It’s official: The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed November 6-7 to be Sing For Your Life Weekend.  A Gold Standard Chorus quartet performed for the Supervisors’ meeting on Tuesday 10/26 in Santa Cruz.

It’s not too late to get your Sing For Your Life tickets!  This year you can purchase online, or if you prefer, from a participating school choir near you.

As we roll into the fall season we have a lot to look forward to. Here are some of the upcoming highlights:

• Wednesday 9/29: Fifth Wednesday! GSC will be out on the town doing informal performances (instead of our usual rehearsal).
• Weekend of 10/9: Far Western District convention in Bakersfield.
• 11/6-7: Sing For Your Life benefit concert.

Until further notice, we will be holding all rehearsals at the Kirby school, 425 Encinal Street.

Our remaining summer chapter meetings will be at the Kirby school, 425 Encinal St.

We thank Peachwood’s at Pasatiempo and the staff of New Brighton State Beach for providing rehearsal space for GSC in recent months.

Summer is the time for relaxing, having fun, and singing a song! If you want to come join us, now is a great time. It’s a low-stress time when we encourage a lot of quartet singing and try out some new repertoire, so you can learn a new song right along with our established singers.

Major news: Wednesday, June 9 was our last meeting at Santa Cruz High School for a while. We have relocated to the Kirby Prep School choir room at the end of Encinal Street. Our first meeting at Kirby is Wednesday, June 16.  To get to Kirby from Santa Cruz or elsewhere on the coast, take Highway 1 to Highway 9 north; Encinal is the third street on your left, with a stoplight.

We’ll be announcing several more performances in July and August, so check back again soon.  We’re looking forward to another great summer!
